🛡️ You Are Protected — Here's What To Do If You Get a Claim

All music on Portal Music is free to use on any platform. If you receive a copyright claim or strike after using one of our tracks, it is wrongful and can be disputed and won. This guide walks you through exactly how to do that.

📖 What's the Difference: Claim vs. Strike?

  • Copyright Claim (Content ID) — An automated system flags your video. Your video stays up but ad revenue may be redirected. This is the most common situation and is easy to dispute.
  • Copyright Strike — A manual takedown request. More serious — three strikes can remove your channel. Rarer, but also disputable.

In either case, your use of Portal Music tracks is fully licensed and you have the right to dispute.

▶️ Step-by-Step: Disputing a Claim on YouTube

  1. Go to YouTube StudioContent
  2. Find the video with the claim and click the claim details
  3. Click "Dispute" next to the claim
  4. Select "I have a license or permission from the rights holder"
  5. Paste the template below into the text box
  6. Submit — the claimant has 30 days to respond or the claim is released
